Barry Workman, Software Developer

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" Leonardo da Vinci.

I have written Web based PDF documents that were dynamically generated from XML via Java for over 12 years.

My print and PDF producing skills using XML XSL formatting objects have morphed into leading edge web design skills using CSS3, html5, JQuery, JavaScript and JavaScript libraries in building Pro Bono sites allow me to offer Web Development Services ("the fast Web") in addition to my Java, ETL and XML repertoire.

I am experienced in the analysis, design and implementation of large complex document systems and value added patent information systems. I have developed and implemented modules of Java and Spring based JEE Service Oriented Architectures. I was recently asked to build an Enterprise System Platform, Spring Batch (JSON) processing Service as part of an SOA for Claims Transformation and Servicing at a national insurance firm.

I have designed large multiple schema applications, converted and manipulated large amounts of proprietary data to XML structures using Java based tool sets and rendered "on the fly" XML files of Laws, Bills, Legislative Journals, and scientific/educational information into formatted, stylized PDF and html documents using Java, XML and XSL-FO technologies.

I have served as a Requirements Analyst for new implementations of legacy based systems using Java, Perl and XML.

My peers call me a "Word Smith". I am often called upon to write documentation and reply to formal RFP's. I have authored over 20 Scientific, Management and Information Technology articles in the US, Europe, the Near and Middle East and edited one International Symposia.
